Plate - Hiwa Green

This plate originated in Mino in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Mino ware is the most popular style in Japan, accounting for 60% of the country's ceramics. Mino-yaki is valued for its beauty and durability, making it popular for everyday use and, of course, special occasions.

Akakanyu (朱貫入) is a glazing technique used for this piece to create a unique crackle pattern. The glaze shrinks during firing and reveals spiderweb-like accidental patterns on the piece, making every cup one-of-a-kind.
