These beautiful chopsticks are finished using Tsugaru lacquerware, a technique from Tsugaru, a representative lacquerware producing region at the northernmost tip of Japan.
Founded in 1920, Ishida has spent nearly a century creating new value together with our customers while continuing to honour and preserve tradition. Based in Obama, Japan, we proudly craft Wakasa lacquered chopsticks, a traditional art form passed down since the early Edo period.
Carefully layered with Japanese lacquer known as Urushi, one coat upon another, Wakasa-nuri reflects over 400 years of history and craftsmanship. Rooted in tradition yet continuously evolving, the refined techniques of its artisans continue to shape each piece to this day.
